In the last twelve months’ Time Warner’s film unit has been boosted by the success of the likes of the latest Superman movie, Man of Steel and the cinematic update of The Great Gatsby. Meanwhile its coverage of NBA Basketball in the US helped to drive cable television advertising up by eleven percent.

In addressing the media, Mining Minister Hernan de Solminihac revealed this projection, a figure that represents an eight percent increase since the last estimate was given in November 2012. Oil firm TransCanada has announced that the $11.6 billion Energy East line will carry up to 1.1 million barrels of oil per day, replacing oil imported to eastern Canada with a leftover surplus to export across the Atlantic. The Energy East pipeline would run from Hardisty, Alberta, to a new deep-water marine terminal in St John, New Brunswick.


Boosted by a surge in smartphone sales and the weakness of the yen the company recorded net profit of 3.5 billion yen, reversing a loss of 24.6 billion yen during the same period last year.

The company said its sales rose 13 percent in the three months to the end of June, from a year earlier, primarily "due to the favourable impact" of the currency movement. It also raised its sales forecast for the current financial year to 7.9 trillion yen from its projection of 7.5 trillion yen in May.
